Greenhouse Gases and its Affects on Weather Systems

We have been made aware in the near future our children’s generation will be the last generation to live on a normal planet. Therefore, we are interested in the causes that are propagating this issue. We will identify what greenhouse gases exist and their natural and/or man-made sources and reveal how they harm the environment. In addition, methods to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases will be listed to mitigate the impact on the climate and in turn the weather system.

Ready to find out more?

Greenhouse gases are considered a serious problem around the world as they trap a significant amount of solar radiation by absorbing and re-emitting the earth's radiation emitted from the surface. These gases linger in the atmosphere for a long time thus exacerbating the greenhouse effect. These greenhouse gases are emitted when fuel is combusted and during the decomposition of waste.

These gas emissions will destroy the ozone layer and cause climate change and as a result, will cause a negative chain reaction that impacts Earth. In fact, for about 50 years, satellite technology has observed changes in the ozone layer which is clear that there is a severe depletion of the ozone.

In addition, climate change increases the frequency of floods and droughts by increasing precipitation in some areas. If climate change is not halted, the Earth's surface temperature will rise, and life on Earth as we know it will be threatened. Therefore, various efforts are being made to protect the planet around the world.

Throughout this project, we will identify what greenhouse gases exist and their natural and/or man-made sources and reveal how they harm the environment. In addition, methods to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases will be listed to mitigate the impact on the climate and in turn the weather system.
